Service Description
Join us for a rare 3-part pit firing experience with guest artist Janet McLeod, where your work is transformed using flame, organic materials, and time. No two pieces are ever the same — expect rich smoky surfaces, flashes of colour, and completely unique results. What’s included: • Clay and a guided making session at Clay Silverdale • Bisque firing of your work • A full pit firing experience at Janet’s property • Uncovering and finishing your pieces the following day You’ll learn the fundamentals of pit firing, create your own pieces, and take part in the full firing process — from building the fire through to revealing what’s happened inside. We’ll guide you toward forms that fire well, and Janet will share her knowledge of materials, techniques, and what influences the final results. Important to know: Pit firing is an experimental process. Outcomes are unpredictable and there is always a risk of breakage — that’s all part of the experience.
